Volunteer Opportunities

Looking to make a difference? Volunteer to assist those who need--or need to maintain-- a safe, legal and affordable path to citizenship.

Fill out our volunteer application here.

If you have additional questions about general volunteering, email volunteer@jfonaustin.org. If you have questions about volunteering to do legal work for JFON, email attorney@jfonaustin.org.

Below are descriptions of some of the ways you can get involved.

Thank you!

Document Translation

Translate to English from Spanish, French, or indigenous Central American languages. The types of documents include

handwritten declarations or narratives written by humbly educated people, newspaper articles, and

bureaucratic or legal documents.

Conduct research in academic journals, newspapers and other sources in various languages for information that corroborates particular incidents or  conditions that have affected our clients.

Help our clients get to appointments, ICE check-ins, and court hearings safely and legally.

Volunteer Attorney Assistance

For lawyers and people wanting to get involved with asylum cases or even bond hearings, we can train and mentor you, step by step.
